Flowers on Volcanos
a little red seed planted in alaska
her roots dug down right under nebraska
all the way out to the big hot island
flowers on volcanos beyond the horizon
burnt scorched scars stack up on her stems
reminding her of those coral gems
it’s okay to look but dare not touch
she’s too damn prickled for your clutch
she spreads her leaves and lifts away
shelving the tears for another day
this little bright bud grew into a girl
with nothing to stop her from ruling the world
